Found-Object Assemblage Sculpture
Found-object art, assemblage sculpture and collage
are ideal forms of art in a culture awash in disposable manufactured goods
and printed material. I've made this type of art since I was a boy, since
before I knew what it was called.
Robot Prometheus Icon is a piece of art that seems to have been derived subconsciously from the idea of a Greek icon with references to the more ancient Greek myth Prometheus.
Eohippus Encyclopedia Dream was made while I was thinking about encyclopedias and books on natural history and how much time I spent flipping through those type books as boy.
Grandmother Clock evolved from several small found-object pieces that grew together.
Hieroglyphs with Clockmaker's Cartouche is line of bas relief hieroglyphs made from found objects.
The Door Marked R is fairly plain and might be recycled or modified in some way.
The Devil's Thermostat is built conceptually around a red plastic goat.

Black Linen is a little boring and pointless and will be recycled. It was fun making it.
Blackbirds on a Wire was made while thinking about the type of things I would find in plowed fields, places where old sharecropper shacks had burned down decades before.
Soul Bottle is a somewhat cliched reference to the old tradition of the moth as the symbol of the soul that escapes through the moth at the time of death.
Creepy Music Dolls Head is super creepy and sometimes starts playing after hours of sitting quietly in the corner.
Time Machine looks like a time bomb made by the Little Rascals.
Junebug Night is a picture of a fat tote frog hopping around eating clumsy June bugs on the patio one night.
Secret Transmitter looks like a World War II era transmitter, something made inside a book to hide it from the Nazis.
Specimen uses a lense over a transfer to create the look and feel of a laboratory specimen.
White Horse uses found porcelain pieces patinaed with red Georgia clay.
Byzantine Crown was created "before I was an artist."
Model for Shrine was made as a model for a small shrine of about six feet high that I built in the 1990s.
Snooty's Heiroglyphics were made with my old cat Snooty in mind.
