"The Dove Returns" Contemporary Mosaic Art

"The Dove Returns" looks like some piece of bad 1970's religious art, the type you might see in the alternative Episcopal church, not the main one in town, but the smaller one where all the college professors and vegetarians go.

Emotional inspiration can drive art to new heights, but it can also blind the artist to the point where he can't evaluate his own art objectively.

The upturned face and hands of the drowning man is an image that has been in my head for years. I hope to do better takes on the theme sometime soon.  I suspect I may be soaking this mosaic in vinegar to loosen the tiles where I can reuse them.
