"Lovers in Overton Park" contemporary figurative painting

Lovers in the outer (east) end of Overton Park in Memphis, late afternoon, Fourth of July weekend.  There was a softball game and a soul revival going on not too far away.  The whole park smelled of barbeque, and it was dusty from the drought.

This is another flawed painting.  It's a strong composition, but all I can see are the flaws, so I can't wait to repaint the scene.  Still, the painting catches my eye every time I walk in the room, so maybe I did capture the essence of it after all.
